Organic Chemistry I and II

About:

Dr. Discordia hails from the Catskill Mountains in New York State (ever watch “Dirty Dancing”?) and
attended Allegheny College in Pennsylvania to earn a B.S. in Chemistry. Having had the opportunity to do both Organic and Inorganic chemistry research as an undergraduate, she went on to earn a Ph.D. in Organic Synthesis at Syracuse University, working on the total synthesis of Herbimycin A, an organic molecule with multiple functionality and
antiangiogenic properties, which made it a desirable candidate for development as a combination
chemotherapy drug.

In 1993, Dr. Discordia began teaching organic chemistry, first at SUNY Cortland, in Cortland, NY, and then
at LeMoyne College, (aka “the OTHER college in Syracuse”). In 1999, after ten years of snow in Syracuse, she migrated
to south of the Mason-Dixon line to Towson University, where she is a Senior Lecturer and enjoys teaching Organic Chem I and II lecture
and labs. On her off hours, when she’s not grading piles of papers (somewhere around July, maybe?), she spends her time with her husband and their two dogs. She enjoys planning and taking trips on their motorcycle,
reading, going to movies, and doing crafty things that don’t involve a glue gun and plans to do so full time, come June 2019.
