How did you find this internship?
I found this internship through Handshake.
What advice on the internship application process would you give to another TU student
interested in this internship?
Study the company before going into the interview. Also, be confident and vibrant
because that helps in sales and definitely helped me land this amazing internship.
Also, be yourself. They are down to earth and want someone who understands people.
What did you do as an intern at this organization?
I did many ride alongs with my manager, sales reps, and brand managers. I sat in on
pricing meetings. I met the entire southeast business unit at their yearly conference.
I learned about the three-tier system and how to sell products. I also got to sell
products on my own and build relationships with retailers.
What did you find most rewarding in your internship?
Selling in products was incredibly rewarding to me. I was excited that it was something
I contributed to the company. I also had an end-of-internship project which I presented
to the CCO of the entire company. It was incredible to have him sit in and listen
What were the challenges you faced in your internship?
It was sometimes scary to put yourself out there to sell items and it was a lot of
constantly meeting new people. Sometimes you’re thrown right into meetings or activities
and you have to keep up, but everyone was so kind, making it such a good experience.
If another student at TU was interested in your internship next year, what skills
would you recommend they develop in the coming semesters to prepare?
I would recommend developing good communication skills and public speaking skills.
Students have to know how to work with all different types of people and be prepared
to put themselves out there and speak up.
