It’s not just the fierceness of their jammers and toughness of their blockers that wins Hanoverians’ hearts season after season. The Black Rose Rollers Women’s Roller Derby Team get involved in community events.
From March through October, friends, family, sports fans, and curious locals alike gather at Magic Elm Skateland to cheer on Hanover’s Black Rose Rollers. This internationally ranked women’s roller derby team hosts bouts approximately once per month, and travels equally often for away bouts. In only their seventh year, they’ve whipped and hip-checked their way into the top half of all teams in the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association.
With public appearances like the wildly popular Princess Teatime, guest bartending at Something Wicked Brewery, and appearances at the Hanover Chili Cook-off and Hanover Area Jaycees Halloween Parade, BRR ladies are well-known members of their community. These teachers, mothers, and baristas-by-day sacrifice their free time to represent their team and foster Hanover pride.
See for yourself at their next home bout at Magic Elm Skateland — 625 W Elm Avenue in Hanover.
